Handmade 16oz Butterfly Sgraffito Porcelain Travel Mug

This 16-ounce, hand-painted, sgraffito travel mug is hand-finished with clear and purple glaze. The locking BPA-free lid prevents spills, and the mug fits easily in a car cup holder. This is the perfect gift for any coffee or tea lover.

How it is made: The mug is handmade from porcelain clay. After trimming, I apply the butterfly design and then sgraffito (carve) around it. I fire the mug, then hand-paint the colors onto the butterfly, and then add the purple and clear glazes to the exterior. I fire a final time and then sand the bottom of the mug for a smooth finish.

Where it is made: We make all of the pottery on this site in my home studio on a small farm just outside of Bend, Oregon. We are a family business. My son-in-law, Matthew, and I work as a team to produce all of our work.
