Large Hand Thrown Pit Fired Covered Bottle

This white porcelain covered jar or urn was thrown on a pottery wheel and fired in an electric kiln. Soluble salts were then added to the exterior and the vase was pit fired to bring out the various reactions that you see. The exterior was polished to bring out the colors.
